It sounds like a movie title, but the man with the Nose for Scent in the Ottawa fashion scene believes that every perfume has a story, as distinct as your own. Someone once asked Marilyn Monroe what she wore to bed. When she replied “Channel Number 5,” it changed the world of scent forever. Sid Cratzbarg IS The Aristocrat of Scent and can be found holding court for the olfactory sense at Holt Renfrew, Ottawa.
Sid’s talent is understanding that scent is as unique to a person as a fingerprint or a signature. With a gentle wave of a bottle, his proboscis is able to detect notes of flowers, oils and accents like a wine connoisseur detects the elements that make a vintage what it is. His repetior includes some of the biggest names in the industry, including Gucci, Versace, Ferragamo and Blumarine. He has launched world exclusives, including the Bois Collection from Florence and Signorina by Ferragamo. Come L’amore was the women’s and the men’s scent was called Oltremare.
Once a primary school teacher and motivational speaker, Sid had a dream to be involved with fashion. He recognized that the Fashion insudrey caters to the young, but fails to address the beautiful people over the age of 29. But then again, aren’t we all 29?
Sid’s greatest skill is his personal touch. Not unlike a reader of palms, Sid is able to discern what would suit a client, even if they are unsure. For the novice or the experienced, Sid has scented solutions for attracting your desire, boosting self esteem, increasing your sex appeal or for defining your individuality.
You can find Sid at Holt Renfrew in Ottawa where he purveys his scents: The invisible accessory.
