Summer Camp for Teens in Ottawa, Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec

"Aye Captain…"
For teens from 12 years and up.

Youth Camp
An exciting program that combines sailing aboard the 87' brigantine Black Jack with small boat sailing aboard our two traditional 27' Navy whalers. Discover the adventure and thrill of sailing authentic traditional sailing vessels and exploring the wilderness of the historic Ottawa River. Participants set sail from Quyon, Quebec aboard Black Jack destined for Bytown’s 18 acre seamanship adventure camp facility on Alexandria and Simcoe Islands, located near Fitzroy Provincial Park. On the last day, trainees line Black Jack’s rail and yards in the rigging for a ceremonial entering to the Britannia Yacht Club’s harbour with an impressive show for relatives gathered for the welcome dockside.

In the tradition of the Ottawa River’s logging history, the trainees live aboard an authentic floating bunkhouse from the period. Trainees spend their time sailing the various boats, including the Black Jack, and learning new skillsRegister now —with lots of time left over for swimming, campfires, wide games and fun. Everyone is divided into ‘watch’ teams working together sailing the boats and sharing responsibility for safety watches, meal preparation and adventure course activities. Most importantly, our trainees share this great adventure with a crew of new friends!
